Blogger Of The Month: Stephanie JW

I was a top rubbish blogger during January, I find it hard to motivate myself when the weather is rubbish, as i'm sure a lot of people do, but this month is already feeling so much more positive. As always the beginning of the month means picking one of my favourite bloggers to feature as blogger of the month, and this month i've decided to go for Stephanie JW. I can't remember how I found Stephanie's blog, but I really like her grungy, bohemian style and her enviable shoe collection. Working for Dr Martens means she usually teams her dresses and skirts with chunky footwear, a look I really like, it works well in both Summer and Winter. Favouring brands such as MinkPink and Evil Twin, Stephanie often layers jumpers and mesh tops underneath printed dresses adding a boyish element to an otherwise girlie outfit.

Rather than always taking outfit photos of herself, I really like the way Stephanie lays hers out on the floor documenting both ideas for looks and her actual outfits on her blog. It reminds me of a feature 'Self Service' magazine had a few years back in which all the outfits for photo shoots were laid flat and photographed after each spread. It's a great spin on how to present your 'looks' especially relevant to me as recently i've been struggling with my confidence in posting outfit shots of myself and have been thinking of different ways to use photography on my blog.

If you haven't read StephanieJW before then think denim mixed with oversized jumpers and kimonos, printed dresses with mesh tops and chunky Jeffrey Campbells. Accessories are always featured and i've spotted everything from 90s style chokers, to long crosses and pendants, oversized circle sunglasses and black fedora hats.

Are you a regular reader of Stephanie's blog or is this your first introduction to her? Let me know in the comments :)

Blogger Of The Month: Helena, Bell's Fashion

I'm writing this blog post to you guys from my sick bed, I posted yesterday about how ill I was feeling and today doesn't seem to be much better. I am definitely not well enough to do an outfit post (unless you guys wanna see my no make up/onesie look) so instead thought I would do my favourite regular post; blogger of the month!

This months blogger of the month is...Helena from Bell's Fashion!

I found Bell's Fashion through the Waiste lookbook, as Helena was the stylist for the shoot and instantly fell in love with her style. As someone who loves black and dark colours I always admire people who embrace colour and Helena sure as hell does this with her eccentric, bohemian style. Every outfit is a clash of colour and print, bringing 90's and 70's inspiration together in a Clueless/Woodstock sort of look! Helena has an enviable collection of fur coats and gilets and is rarely photographed without her staple platforms which definitely add a bit of Spice Girl to her look.

Another thing i've noticed about Helena is she always looks so happy in her blog posts, which I think is a really nice element to bring to a blog. So many bloggers do the moody pout, but her smile is quite refreshing and makes you think that she does really enjoy what she's doing. I also have to mention the AMAZING silver kimono she's wearing in the bottom picture, for this outfit alone Helena your on the top of my blog roll.

Walk On The Wild Side

Lipstick - Clinique
Dress - Motel Rocks
Shoes - Fashion Union
Socks - Primark

It feels like ages since I last did an outfit post and i've been wanting to show you guys this dress for a really long time! It's the acid wash Tinkerbell from Motel Rocks and I had been wanting it for absolutely ages - as you guys will know if you've read my blog for a while. It was £48 so I never got around to buying it, until I spotted it in Topshop for £20 and snapped it up! It's very short so i've been wearing it with tights or more recently my lace trimmed cycle shorts; I just love this smock/babydoll style. Today I have teamed it with a vintage bag, Dr Martens style lace up shoes and some frilly socks from Primark - which come in a 5 pack of pastel colours for £2.50.

Today I went to Rocotillos Diner in Bristol, which if you're from the area is on the Clifton Triangle, they do the best vegetarian breakfasts and lots of delicious milkshakes (although not together) and today we popped in for a milkshake before taking a walk around Clifton. I went for Peanut Butter, and Tom went for extra thick Vanilla, both were amazing! I really want to start pushing myself to create more interesting photography for my blog so today was the perfect opportunity and I hope you like the outcome.
