Blogger Love: Elizabeth Lola

Back when I first started blogging I used to do a little feature called blogger of the month. I've always been a huge blog follower and it was a good way for me to show other bloggers I liked their style and to hopefully introduce my followers to new blogs, you know share the blogger love! I fell out of love with  blogging for a while so blogger of the month took a back seat but recently i've been finding so many girls with amazing style I thought it was about time I brought the feature back and gave a shout out to some of my favourites. 

I found Beth on Instagram and immediately fell in love with her 70s bohemian style, she has some gorgeous printed dresses and way too many beautiful necklaces to mention. I love the way all of her outfits are completed by overloading on accessories and the way she clashes prints and textures, Beth if you're reading I salute you!

Blogger Of The Month: Sara Luxe

Can't believe it's time for blogger of the month again, this year has gone so fast it's crazy how much quicker time goes the older you get! This months blogger of the month is....Sara Luxe! To be honest i'm surprised I haven't picked Sara before, I first found her blog when I was interning at Motel Rocks and sent her a sample, she was a real pleasure to speak to and i've followed her blog since and always have it on my favourites bar.

Sara works as a stylist for Missguided which sounds like a really great job, her Instagram is always full of pictures from busy days at work and I have found myself heading towards Missguided more because of her influence. Style wise, she layers and mixes texture and lengths creating quite a bohemian 90s grungy look, never complete without plenty of necklaces and rings. One of the things I really like about Saras' style is how she wear items in a way that wouldn't occur to most, her layering really is flawless and she looks extremely well styled in every post.

Sara wears a lot of high street pieces and due to her job often has a Missguided item nestled in as part of her look, I really appreciate that because there is nothing worse than loving the dress your favourite blogger is wearing and finding out it's way too out of your price range. Before you say it, yes this jumper is the greatest thing I have ever bought! I love the fluffy jumper trend but as soon as I saw this one in Topshop I knew I wouldn't be able to find another one that would compare, plus it's called The Cloud! It was £40 and I bought it during the 20% student discount event (with my cousins discount, naughty!) plus I had a £10 gift card from my birthday, so it only cost me £22. I've teamed it with a floral playsuit from River Island which was a birthday present at the end of July, and of course this hat which I can't seem to stop wearing. I am also wearing a Waiste necklace here, I featured Sara Waiste as my blogger of the month in August and have since fallen hard for her vintage clothing label which you can find here. Waiste will be holding a pop up shop in London on 19th, which I wish I was going to but unfortunately I have work so please pop along if your in Dalston.

Ive been in Swanage this weekend with some friends and today is going to consist of a Sunday carvery and a band practice tonight, have a nice Sunday :)

This summer I have really fallen back in love with the 70's gypsy look I used to love so much as a teenager, I can't stop looking at Mink Pink dresses on ASOS and have been buying printed items rather than plain for a change. 

I recently discovered 'Staring At Stars' on the Urban Outfitters website when I noticed all the items on my wish-list were from the same label, I tried to do some research into the brand but can't find anything about it, so if you're familiar with it or have a website link then hit me up! 

In other news I have been working a lot this week, and had a great weekend which included a gin fuelled Saturday night and a pizza fuelled Sunday. 

Lime In The Coconut

When I was 15 I went on holiday with my family and had a holiday romance with a bag, a coconut bag to be exact. It's an actual coconut with a zip around the centre and a long rope handle, I used to take it into town on nights out (when you didn't need ID) with all my essentials; phone, debit card, keys and black eyeliner. 

Since then i've never quite found another bag which matched up, nothing seems as fun or interesting as a coconut...until now! I recently saw Olivia post the new Lulu Guinness bag on Instagram and whilst I can't quite afford the £395 price tag, it got me thinking about bags and how i'm a bit bored with the standard satchel or oversized handbag; I want something to make a statement! So I set myself a little challenge to find some interesting styles online and wanted to share my finds with you!

It's been a while since I posted an outfit, over a month at least and it appears I have forgotten how to have my photograph taken, but after my little blogging break I am back and feeling super positive and excited about blogging again. I've made a few changes in my life over the past 6 months and can honestly say I am currently the happiest that I have been in a long time. My anxiety has almost completely gone away and I feel more like myself again after a very long and confusing period, which scared me and a lot of the people around me.

The biggest change I have made is I have a new job - yes again! When I finished University I felt an immense pressure to go into a career straight away and after interning and gaining experience in fashion retail management, I finally felt comfortable and secure working as the store manager for Motel Rocks. My heart was broken when they closed that shop, it meant so much to me and since the redundancy i''ve been wanting to care about a job that much again and wake up in the mornings looking forward to work. After the redundancy I did some temping and a few odd retails jobs but kept thinking back to how happy I had been whilst working at Motel and felt I needed to go back to doing something along those lines.

After a bit of a search during the summer I found a job with independent boutique Fox and Feather in Bristol; I am working 4 days a week in the shop as well as doing a bit of newsletter and blog writing. I feel really happy to have met Clare, the owner, I love helping her come up with ideas for the shop, and feel so lucky that we have such a great working relationship, it's great to feel like part of the company and not just an employee number.

Working part time means I might not have a lot of money but at least it means I am able to develop my other passions, I have time to practice bass guitar and am even part of a girl band now! I also have time to dedicate to this blog and to concentrate on another project which I can't tell you about just yet. I was a really unhappy person for a long time and if you suffer from depression you will understand quite how debilitating that can be, I feel as though i've finally come through it and understand how I want my life to be, sometimes you just have to do the things you want rather than the things you think you should be doing.

Sorry for the long and fairly deep blog post, I hope no one thinks i've lost the plot! I promise everything else will be light and chirpy from now on!

If you follow me on Twitter you will know that the other day I got a bit overexcited about this cut out skater dress from Glamorous. I saw it online and couldn't even sleep thinking about it selling out, so I got up at midnight and bought it (yes I know how crazy that makes me sound!) It took 2 days to be delivered (free delivery) and I received a text to let me know exactly what time it would be delivered, such a good service which made the whole transaction really smooth. As soon as it arrived yesterday I had to put it on, I teamed it with my amber necklace and an old primark favourite, plus this gorgeous vintage stone cuff my boyfriend surprised me with for my birthday.

I'm trying to do something a little bit different with my photos at the moment so today i'm trying out a new idea of putting an image next to some text and not using the flip effect. These photos are not really the best quality, it's a very dark, stormy day here in Bristol so the lighting is terrible, you can't see that i'm wearing black lace trimmed cycle shorts underneath this lovely kaftan. This top was an early birthday present from my boyfriend, and I absolutely love it, it's very 70s and I love the print.

I went out on Saturday for my birthday and had an amazing night, lots of lovely friends came and we went to Mothers Ruin in Bristol, who had 'Roll Over Beethoven' on; a 50's style rockabilly night. Aside from that I have been spending lots of time practicing the bass guitar, which I started learning a few weeks ago and caring for my poor fingers which are killing from the thick strings!

Blogger Of The Month: Charlene O'Rourke

I am back from Glastonbury and am far too depressed to concentrate on anything, so have decided to do a blogger of the month post straight away! 

This month I have picked my blogger of the month as...Charlene O'Rourke from Strutt, who I will start by saying is just an absolute babe! I first found Strutt, as I discovered a lot of my favourite blogs, through working at Motel and have followed her blog ever since. Her style is very cool and she always looks perfectly done with all of the items of her outfit really well put together. She has gorgeous dark hair which is often accessorised with a black hat and no outfit is complete without a slick of her signature red lipstick. Charlene wears a lot of Motel, but she wears them in a way which isn't typical of your Motel girl. Often Motel girls are thought of as wearing tight bodycon dresses with huge heels and big hair but I love the way Charlene mixes this up and styles her pieces with vintage and a rock n roll edge.

Using a lot of monochrome, print and denim, I love the way Charlene uses one print as a focus and then mixes her vintage monochrome style with it. I get a bit of a 70s bohemian vibe from her look mixed in with quite a 90s grunge which is a great combination! 

Strutt is a great, minimal blog and I like the way, only one photo is used to show the outfit, with hardly any text, which I think makes it easier to read and gives focus to the important bit; the outfits! There's also a great side bar with recommendations and just to make her even more fashionable there is a tab for outfits Charlene has made herself!

I bought this dress yesterday in H&M and I really love it, i've been looking for a black and white striped dress for a while and this one was only £12.99 and fits really nicely. I've teamed it with the black Dr Marten style shoes I featured on my bargain wish list post which I am totally in love with and can't believe they only cost £10! I really like the monochrome look and this hat is covering my horrific hair which is being dyed this afternoon, so look out tomorrow for my super silver hair!

Blogger of the Month: The Robyn Diaries!

I'm a little bit late on picking my 'blogger of the month' this month, mainly because I have a huge list of blogs I follow but this is one i've been planning for a while and for June I have picked the lovely Robyn from 'The Robyn Diaries'.

Robyn has quite a grunge style mixed in with some really girlie pieces and almost always accessorised with her trademark bowler hat! Her style is also quite eclectic and 'thrown together' in a really rock n roll sort of way, she mixes prints and colours but they always work and I appreciate the confidence she has in putting together an outfit. I had the pleasure of meeting Robyn at LFW this year and it's always nice to meet a really lovely blogger who is friendly and chatty! 

After taking a mini break from blogging she has now given her blog a little make over and introduced some playlists on the side bar which I think is a great idea. As someone who also has a huge love for Music I love the idea of introducing your favourite bands to a fashion/style blog and we seem to have a lot of the same music tastes, which always excites me!

I love these trousers, they are so comfortable and as I do love a good paisley print they are the perfect combination. I wore them on a night out with my leather biker jacket and a wide brimmed hat and have worn them just casually in the day with my plain white t shirt and black loafers. They're really versatile and now i'm having to stop myself buying the matching jacket too!

The best piece of news I have to share with you guys is I have been paid! Actual full time money for pretty much the first time in my life and i've been shopping. I'm gonna do a little haul post of all the new things i've bought and am really excited to have some new things for outfit posts this week!

I was absolutely gutted not to be able to attend the Bristol Craft Meet Up this weekend, I was all set and ready to go then my boyfriend surprised me with a trip to Bath Spa (definitely not complaining!) so I couldn't make it but the photos look great and it looks like everyone had a great time!

High Line Sky Line

This is a little post of an outfit I wore to work today, i'm quite lucky that I work in an office where there isn't a dress code, I don't think I would enjoy having to buy 'office wear' and I feel a lot more relaxed being able to wear my own clothes!

The outfit consists of the boyfriend ASOS t shirt that I have in 4 different colours, a primark black midi skirt and my beautiful office shoes! My leather jacket was a eBay find and I have pinned a few little badges on it to jazz it up too!

This week I have been VERY excited about Glastonbury; me and some friends have been talking about it non stop and i'm really excited to start planning what i'm going to wear and buy some fun bits and pieces to take with me! I'm a fairly organised person so hopefully I will plan it well enough not to stress out too much when it comes to packing and condensing everything into my tiny bag!

Last night I went to the Eat Drink Bristol Fashion, a mini food festival happening at the moment in Bristol, and if anyone is from the South West I would definitely recommend a visit. Tapas is served throughout the day and night and no booking is necessary, which is nice if you fancy a spontaneous trip! Housed inside a structured tipi, the pop up restaurant is covered in fairy lights and has a lovely festival feel and some gorgeous food. I had Spanish tortilla, grilled asparagus with lemon & garlic mayonnaise and chips and curry sauce, accompanied by a classic pint of Thatchers Gold!

Typing Typist

I'm really not very fond of this picture, I look so scared and wooden! I really need to work out a way to look a bit happier in my blog photos! This is an outfit I wore to work last week, I took the picture before work which actually may explain why I look strange, as i'm tired! This is a cute little vintage shirt I got from a vintage fair a few weeks ago, and i've teamed it with my favourite Urban Outfitters belt and a plain black skater skirt...I look like a 60's receptionist! 

My job is going really well, and thanks to all of you who have signed up to the blogger program, i'm excited to be working with you all! It's quite hard to get used to getting up at 7.30am everyday but apart from that it's really good and i'm learning a lot!

Today I had a massage which was amazing! It was a proper holistic massage because my back has been really bad since starting my new job but I feel so much better since having that! Afterwards I went to a jumble sale with a friend and am just getting ready to go out tonight so apologies for this short post!

What the hell is going on with the weather?! I got really excited last weekend when we had a bit of sun and started to get my summer clothes out, but now the sun has gone and my hair is being blown around in the wind and i'm cold! Now the best way to cheer myself up is to do a wishlist! I have fallen hard for the Motel Daisy dress, it's a great twist on the simple LBD and I can imagine myself wearing it with loafers in the day or heeled chelsea boots and tights on a night out! The ASOS dress is so so lovely, it's not really something I would usually go for and annoyingly it's petite but I thought if I get a larger size it will be a bit longer!

The most important thing happening with me at the moment is my new job! I started last Tuesday and am really enjoying it. I'm working for a social media company who specialise in fashion and beauty clients, which is exactly what I wanted to do. I've been given 15 accounts and am responsible for updating and creating content for them daily, as well as monitoring their statistics. Sounds very fancy but honestly it's not! As part of my job i've been asked to help launch 'The Blogger Program' and have been trying to contact everyone I know who blogs to ask them to get involved and of course would love all of you to get involved too. The program is a way to link our clients with bloggers and enable them to be able to look through our database and find relevant bloggers who they can then gift. In return the blogger will provide the company with images they can use to promote the item! It's really simple and of course free and means you can get some freebies which everybody loves!
