This weekend me and some friends went to Cardiff to watch Toms band play at Welsh Club, it was really fun and good to do something a bit different to most weekends. One of our friends is at Uni there so it was really nice to catch up with her too! Mondays are always so horrible after a few drinks on the weekend aren't they?! My skin always breaks out and I back brush my hair so much on Saturday night that I can't get a brush through it for a few days, so I think tonight is going to be hair mask and early night for me!

I took these pictures on Saturday morning and really like this outfit, the skirt is probably one of the biggest bargains i've had recently I bought it from eBay for £9.99. It's such soft material and I would definitely recommend getting one if you want to get in on the tartan trend thats huge at the moment. I've teamed it with this lipstick from Revlon and a black leotard which is a bit of an essential basic. My hair has faded quite a lot now i'm embracing the silver again and thinking about dying it pink again for Christmas/NYE, it might need a bit of a break and some TLC first though.

It's been a while since I posted an outfit, over a month at least and it appears I have forgotten how to have my photograph taken, but after my little blogging break I am back and feeling super positive and excited about blogging again. I've made a few changes in my life over the past 6 months and can honestly say I am currently the happiest that I have been in a long time. My anxiety has almost completely gone away and I feel more like myself again after a very long and confusing period, which scared me and a lot of the people around me.

The biggest change I have made is I have a new job - yes again! When I finished University I felt an immense pressure to go into a career straight away and after interning and gaining experience in fashion retail management, I finally felt comfortable and secure working as the store manager for Motel Rocks. My heart was broken when they closed that shop, it meant so much to me and since the redundancy i''ve been wanting to care about a job that much again and wake up in the mornings looking forward to work. After the redundancy I did some temping and a few odd retails jobs but kept thinking back to how happy I had been whilst working at Motel and felt I needed to go back to doing something along those lines.

After a bit of a search during the summer I found a job with independent boutique Fox and Feather in Bristol; I am working 4 days a week in the shop as well as doing a bit of newsletter and blog writing. I feel really happy to have met Clare, the owner, I love helping her come up with ideas for the shop, and feel so lucky that we have such a great working relationship, it's great to feel like part of the company and not just an employee number.

Working part time means I might not have a lot of money but at least it means I am able to develop my other passions, I have time to practice bass guitar and am even part of a girl band now! I also have time to dedicate to this blog and to concentrate on another project which I can't tell you about just yet. I was a really unhappy person for a long time and if you suffer from depression you will understand quite how debilitating that can be, I feel as though i've finally come through it and understand how I want my life to be, sometimes you just have to do the things you want rather than the things you think you should be doing.

Sorry for the long and fairly deep blog post, I hope no one thinks i've lost the plot! I promise everything else will be light and chirpy from now on!

Recent Purchases

This is a little collection of a few of the things I have bought recently. These were the things that photographed the best even though there were a few more items, but for some reason the others just looked terrible laid flat, hopefully they will look better on! The first item is a little playsuit from Topshop which was £26, it's quite expensive for a beach cover up but I thought I could wear it with a black bandeau and tights which made me justify it a little more! Secondly my absolute favourite current item; the Urban Outfitters denim pinafore! I don't know what is wrong with me but I seem to have reverted back to childhood and just want to wear dungarees and pinafores all the time. This one was quite pricey at £58 but 100% worth it if this is something you are looking for. It's quite a strange shape to get used to as it's quite square but a really lovely item which I will definitely be doing an outfit post on this week! The last two items are two vintage shirts one from eBay and the other from a vintage fair. Both were under £10 which is brilliant and look great tucked into skater skirts or vintage levis. I did include a picture of my white vintage dress from the vintage fair too but honestly it photographed so badly when laid out so instead here is a link to me wearing it! 

I can't write a blog post without touching on what's going on in my life at the moment and to be honest life at the moment seems a little crazy! I am working pretty much full time at my job, going to the gym and sleeping a lot and i'm afraid my blog has been suffering because of it. I always feel so guilty because I love writing this so much and I hereby promise to dedicate more time to posts in the future, which I know will make my friend Bea who is my number 1 fan happy!

Blue Rinse

As some of you may remember, back in October when I first started my blog I dyed my hair Lilac. I absolutely loved it but it went a bit patchy and didn't last that long, so last night I randomly decided I wanted to dye my hair blue. Inspired by 90s grunge Gwen, I bought a 'Crazy Colour' bottle in 'Bubblegum Blue' and went for it this afternoon. I can't recommend the 'Crazy Colour' range enough, they do a huge variety and several versions of each colour from bright royal blue right down to pastel bubblegum blue. There's no peroxide in the formula so it's safe to do by yourself and lasts roughly 4-6 washes- perfect! I absolutely love this colour, i've done purple and pink before but I think this might be my favourite so far :) I was going to do a little tutorial on how to use it but it is so easy I didn't think there was much point. All you do is wash your hair with shampoo, towel dry and then apply! There is a lot of dye in the bottle so you don't need to worry about your hair length, just apply evenly, leave on for 15-30 minutes and there you go! If you have bleached blonde hair like mine, it lasts about 2-3 weeks so is great for a big night out, or a festival because after a few washes your hair just fades back to normal.

As for my outfit today, it's pretty simple as i've had a day off; i'm wearing a vintage oversized white shirt and lace trimmed black cycle shorts with my black converse. I got involved with helping to promote a Bristol vintage fair on the weekend and bought 5 lovely items all for £45! I have planned a blog post to show you guys my purchases which I will post tomorrow. Hope you like my hair, let me know what you think...

Peter Pan Collars

As i'm unemployed at the moment, i've tried to spend my time wisely and limit lying in bed watching TV all day to once a week! I have been doing lots of organising of my room and my life in general, which I think has made me feel more calm and positive about finding a job. Today my lovely Nan wanted to take me out for the day so we decided to go to Frome, Somerset which is around a 45 minute drive from Bristol. Somerset is a really lovely place and Frome is just one of the beautiful areas along with Wells and Glastonbury. If you live in Bristol/Bath I would definitely recommend a visit or if you are visiting the South West for a weekend, a trip to any of these places would be well worth it! Frome is somewhere I have been meaning to visit for a while, ever since I read a great blogpost from Bristol blogger Niki about the large vintage shopping on offer!

We decided to stop for lunch first and found this great cafe just off the high street called 'The Garden Cafe'. I know it sounds ridiculously enthusiastic but this is probably one of the best Cafes i've ever been too! Everything on the menu was vegetarian and vegan friendly, plus most of it was organic and gluten-free. I chose a toasted cheddar sandwich with avocado and sweet chilli, which was so delicious, plus I was really happy to discover they sold their own fruit and vegetables on the side of the cafe...how sweet!

After the delicious food we headed up the road on the look out for St Catherine's Hill, an area renowned for vintage and second hand shops. Beautiful independent stores lined the classic cobbled street, and victorian style lamps hung on the sides of the stone clad buildings, it really was beautiful. The first shop I encountered was 'Roundabout' the clothes weren't really my style, but my Nan fell in love with several beautiful dresses. I was however really impressed with the layout of this shop, upstairs the building had been preserved in its original room set and all the clothes were merchandised around bedroom furniture. It was really unique!

The rest of the shops however were perfectly my style! First up was Truly Sopel, unfortunately the shop was closing down so there wasn't much of a choice, but the brand has been set up by an LCF graduate, who has created a unique brand mixing girlie styles with colourful fabrics and childhood classics. I fell in love with all of the prints and waffle cardigans, but sizes were limited and I was gutted to leave with nothing. I was assured however that the brand would continue online and if you are interested in seeing some more check out the website Truly Sopel.

My favourite find of the day had to be Poot. A classic vintage shop, full to the brim with bags, dresses and shoes. I got chatting to the shop owner, who was absolutely lovely and she showed me a load of new vintage she had just received. After a good 45 minutes of trying on shirts, shoes and dresses I settled on a gorgeous pair of toe capped shoes and a blouse which could have been created from my own mind; black with a white peter pan collar..my favourite! Sorry for the photo of the blouse, it would not photograph well because of the contrast in colours! The owner also told me she would be running a stall at Glastonbury Festival in the Avalon field, which i'll definitely be going to find!

Finally there was 'Make and Mend Vintage' which I was super excited about as soon as I spotted it! It has a fantastic entrance with large windows and an art deco style exterior, and a huge array of vintage dresses. I fell in love with a gold 70's dress but it was a bit too expensive for how often i'd wear it (me being sensible!) I did find a couple of great pairs of chelsea boots, some 60's dresses and a few jackets - I would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area. 

As you can tell I had such a lovely day and if you live in Bristol, definitely take a trip out to Frome if you get the chance, the shops are all lovely and the people were so friendly! Even if you don't love vintage shopping as much as I do, I would definitely recommend a trip to the 'Garden Cafe' they are open late and have a full bar ♥♥

I look a bit strange in these photos, I love the outfit but i'm not sure if I look a bit baggy? This is a new skirt from Primark it cost £7, what a bargain! It's a waffle style material and is a midi length which is something I would never usually go for, but I love the look of it with a baggy jumper - it feels quite grungy, especially with my Dr Martens! I decided to team it with this cute vintage shirt to soften it and it's definitely my favourite outfit of the moment. My hair has finally decided to go a bit more silver, I had a bad dye job and the first two inches of my hair was a horrible yellow colour while the rest was the silver I like. I put a toner on it over the weekend and it has lifted so much, I am so much happier with it! 

I had a great weekend, it was a friends birthday on Saturday so me and my friends went out in Bristol for it; I felt suitably horrible on Sunday. I haven't really been out since New Year so it was fun to go out drinking with all my friends and have a good time. Today I applied for 5 jobs! So proud of myself i'm feeling really positive job wise and am just waiting for the next thing to come along. As for the rest of the week i'm just gonna try and relax and carry on filling my day with seeing friends and doing blog posts!

This is one of those annoying posts where I can't put a link on any of my clothes because they are all vintage or old season! I bought this t shirt from the Motel Bristol store on the weekend, I was going out for a few drinks and wanted something casual to wear and this was perfect. It's not something I would usually pick but I really like it and love the way it looks tucked in with vintage Levis. It was £28 in the  but my discount made it much more appealing! 

Yesterday was my day off so I was very lazy and stayed in my pjs till 4ish, then decided to pop into town and get some food with my boyfriend. I went into Topshop and bought some things with some vouchers I had for Christmas which I will post about later on this week! 

I'm about to go work and am really excited because we should be getting some brand new items in (I already have my eye on two of them!) so i'm looking forward to having a little rifle through the delivery. Holly and Phil

This weekend was a really good one, had a great Saturday night out for my brothers birthday and generally felt horrible yesterday! I wore the Elsa dress and was surprised by how much I loved it, I don't usually wear body con because i'm really self conscious of being such a pear shape, but I had lots of lovely compliments and in the end didn't think it looked too bad! 

This week i'm back to working Wednesday- Saturday so have today and tomorrow to do some outfit posts. This evening i'm going to Milton Keynes to the indoor ski place. I've never been skiing before and I am a little bit scared, but after booking a skiing holiday in March I need to learn!

This outfit was from yesterday and makes me look about 12 years old, clearly my bra is not fitting well in the picture either haha embarrassing! I love this jumper from Topshop and have just worn it over my vintage denim shirt and teamed with some tights and the standard H&M body con skirt - lifesaver!

Hope everyone is having a nice day, i'm just sat in my pj's watching 'This Morning' and drinking a lot of orange juice!!

Roller Coaster

I have been a rubbish blogger this week and not posted since Tuesday have just been so busy with my new job! After working my internship at head office on Wednesday I then worked Thursday- Saturday in the shop and went out for one of my best friends birthdays on Friday (where I wore the Laynie AGAIN just love it so much!) The weather has completely turned, I quite like the cold weather and much prefer winter style clothes to summer, but one thing I can't handle is the rain. It actually makes me a little bit angry and always ruins my hair, such a pathetic thing to moan about!

Today is a fairly lazy day as it's Sunday, last night I stayed in, ordered a curry and watched Spice World with my friend which was lovely and very much needed! As for today i'm just sat in the pub my friends work at with some mulled cider waiting to do the quiz later.

I haven't been able to do any outfit of the day photos this week as I have been so busy but I do have one from a few weeks back when I went on a night out with some friends. To be honest I look a bit weird in the photo, I have a weird shape, and it's not the most exciting of outfits, but I absolutely love the black and gold sequin cape i'm wearing. I bought it around 5 years ago from a vintage shop in Bristol after i'd seen a photograph of Kate Moss wearing a sequin cape at Glastonbury and have loved it ever since. Will promise to do a few outfit posts this week to make up for the lack of them!

This is what I wore today for a casual Sunday which involved lots of cleaning, visiting family and trying to sort out my car. My hair is an absolute state (as usual) so I hid it underneath this great hat which goes with everything and always manages to save me! I wore my favourite purple lipstick too and jazzed up my old black sheer shirt with my one of my new spiked collar accessories. I usually spend Sundays with friends, feeling a bit worse for wear but last night I decided to have a night in so this morning I felt unusually refreshed. 

Last night was great and a bit of a change from my usual Saturday night going out drinking routine instead my boyfriend made butternut squash risotto and I made some cookies, a few friends came round and we watched Grease and J.Edgar. Grease is a film I used to watch all the time when I was younger and I haven't watched it since I was probably 10, but oh my god it is amazing! Favourite song has to be 'Sandra Dee', favourite character either Frenchie or Riz; Frenchie has the best hair but Riz is just too cool! Favourite outfit, Sandy at the end which I have decided I need to wear next time I go out and finally..Kenickie! Absolute babe and I was so sad to read on Wikipedia after that he died in the past few years! 

After falling back in love with Grease I decided to make a outfit tribute to Sandy (hot Sandy at the end) and also decided it might be time to dye my hair pink again a la Frenchie!

It is officially Winter! To be honest our Summer never really started so it doesn't feel like that big of a deal but the past few days have definitely felt full of wind and rain. I don't mind, I quite like Winter, or at least the thought of wrapping up in a jumper, coat and boots, I never think of the reality of when i'm pretty much crying on a bus stop because my feet are so cold! I am however looking forward to buying Winter clothes, I have my eye on so many things including a few jumpers, lots of shoes and maybe some not so Wintery items!

I have sold a few things on eBay over the past few days so I spent a lot of today packing things up and going to the post office, I like to package it up properly because it's always nice to receive a good looking parcel in the post rather than a squashed Tesco bag with your name on! My hair is having an absolute disaster at the moment I barely have a fringe as it's just disappeared into the rest of my hair because it's so long! I've decided to just pin it across until I have a hair cut, I love this headscarf though, it's really 60's and only cost me 99p on eBay! Apart from that this outfit is fairly simple which I like and looks a bit school uniformy which I also like! My red lipstick is from a company called Arbonne who I am a consultant for and stays on all day so you don't end up with the weird line on the inside of your lip! Tomorrow I will be working at Motel and will need to decide whether to order the Kadie or the Laynie baby doll, I think at the moment i'm swinging more towards Laynie but it could all change!

This is the first 'what i'm wearing today' blog post I've ever done! It was so weird standing in front of the camera as i'm so used to being behind it for uni and I managed to rope my boyfriend in to take the pictures rather than using a timer. It's definitely going to be a case of trial and error, as I find good places to shoot as well as a good pose which suits me, I am looking ever so slightly wooden in these! Today I have just been making a soup and dying a dress black which sounds very war time, so I went for a simple Topshop black skater skirt and vintage striped jumper. I decided not to tuck the jumper in as I usually would because it's quite bulky and makes me look like I have a weird spare tyre. I also look incredibly tanned, i'm not some crazed fake tanner I have just come back from a holiday for anyone who is wondering! The cross earrings, ponytail and orange lipstick definitely jazz up what is essentially quite a boring outfit and make me look like someone from Saved By The Bell; which I definitely don't mind! The creepers i'm wearing are insanely good copies from ebay and you can find them by following the link above! They're only £19.99 and I get comments all the time about how expensive they must of been because everyone thinks they're real, so if you're looking to get a pair but don't have much money or don't know how much you'll wear them I would definitely recommend getting a pair of these!
