Blogger Of The Month: Lucy Jarvis!

It's once again time for my blogger of the month, albeit it a bit late and this month i've chosen Lucy from Fine and Bambi (used to be Champagne Diamond). Lucy is another person I met through Motel and was one of the other bloggers who inspired me to start my own blog. I fell in love with her blog because she shares my love of cats and immediately I wanted to get my hands on one of the cat print skirts from her own big cartel shop! I also loved her grungy style and liked the way she wore Fred Perry polos tucked into girlie skater skirts, dungarees and the way her tattoos toughen up her pretty dresses.

Lucy seems like someone who doesn't follow trends, she knows what she likes and has a massive obsession with Topshop, something else we have in common! Her style is really relaxed and I like how she always posts pictures of her beautiful cat Lana on her blog and instagram. I have ended up buying a few things after seeing them on Lucys' blog, my favourite of which is the Topshop black pinafore, something I fell in love with as soon as I saw her wearing it, and love seeing how Lucy styles it.

Apart from having awesome style Lucy is a really nice girl who i've spoken to through social networking, and she looks SO much like Alexa Chung it is ridiculous!

Let me know if you also love Lucys' blog or if this is a new one for you, I love how this blogger of the month introduces bloggers to new bloggers!

Discount Day

As you guys know I do love a bit of Motel and even though I don't work for them anymore I still love the clothes and can't stop buying them! At the moment everything seems pretty monochrome but I love the colour injection of electric blue, it's quickly becoming my favourite colour of the season! I've just put together my four favourite Motel pieces on sale at the moment, let me know what you think and whether you have any of them :)

1- Polly Babydoll Dress in Black Pyramid- This dress is a beauty, a lovely flattering babydoll shape, a lot like the Laynie with a contemporary twist on the standard black and white monochrome. It's £35 which I thought was quite well priced and would look good in the summer with bare legs and a bikini underneath or at night with tights and creepers!

2- Catalina Off The Shoulder in Sapphire - I really like the off the shoulder trend and more than anything I absolutely love this colour. This is a really basic dress that I can see myself wearing with tight and lace up ankle boots with lots of jewellery.

3 - Amy Front Zip Mini Skirt in Square Eyes - This skirt is so 60's its amazing! With something like this I need to think of at least 5 things I can wear it with and I have already decided it's going to look good with an electric blue jumper or a black t shirt - definitely justified!

4- Pollyanna PU Trim Shift Dress in Black Smoke - Finally this is a new print which is so subtle, it will go with so much! I really like dipped hem dresses and the print is quite toned down compared to most of the bright OTT Motel prints!

Remember if you like any of these too you can save 20% by using the discount code 'sophiepalms' at the check out

Stealing Sheep

Hat - New Look
Top - Motel Vintage
Shorts - Vintage
Belt - Vintage
Shoes - Urban Outfitters

This is one of those annoying posts where I can't put a link on any of my clothes because they are all vintage or old season! I bought this t shirt from the Motel Bristol store on the weekend, I was going out for a few drinks and wanted something casual to wear and this was perfect. It's not something I would usually pick but I really like it and love the way it looks tucked in with vintage Levis. It was £28 in the  but my discount made it much more appealing!

Yesterday was my day off so I was very lazy and stayed in my pjs till 4ish, then decided to pop into town and get some food with my boyfriend. I went into Topshop and bought some things with some vouchers I had for Christmas which I will post about later on this week!

I'm about to go work and am really excited because we should be getting some brand new items in (I already have my eye on two of them!) so i'm looking forward to having a little rifle through the delivery. Also if any of you live in Bristol and are a fan of the store I have a special promotion for you to receive 20% off just by quoting my blog at the till <3

Daisy Daisy

I wanted to do a blog post featuring my Christmas gifts but I have left it a bit late so apologies for that! I was lucky enough to get four perfumes! Daisy by Marc Jacobs is my new favourite, it smells so gorgeous and it's one of those perfumes where every time you wear it, you just feel good. I also had the original Kate Moss perfume which is a favourite of mine for the day time and Paul Smith, Rose (which I left at my boyfriends house aaah!) a lovely floral smell, which is perfect for me. The purple bottle is Ralph Lauren '4' which was a surprise gift and a really good surprise as it smells amazing! I'm not usually very good at surprises, I think I might be a bit controlling but I just can't handle not knowing! I also received this perfect Dahlia blouse from my Nan (I LOVE IT) and these cute velvet shoes from my Mum (also a pleasant surprise!) both you will be seeing in outfit posts this weekend!

This week has been my first full week at Motel and it's going well! January is always slow for retail so i've been keeping us busy by clearing out the stock room, re-merchandising the shop floor and of course thinking up some ideas for Valentines Day! If you live in Bristol make sure you follow the shops Facebook and Instagram @motelbristolstore.

Today i'll be working and to be honest I don't have many plans this weekend. Usually I go out every Saturday night but I think January needs to be a quiet one so I can save some money towards my skiing trip and maybe give my body a rest. Have a good weekend :)

Fresh Meat

Just a quick post as I am so lame i'm considering going to bed in a minute! I went to the Hemel Hempstead indoor ski slope yesterday instead of Milton Keynes and it was AMAZING! Probably the most fun i've had especially as I was really scared; turns out it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be! My body is aching so much now though so I think i'm going to need a bath and an early night!

My ASOS delivery came today :) I ordered these items and i'm very pleased! They are all fairly basic items which I love, I think it's essential to have a few plain t shirts, and love the variety at the moment with crop tops, off the shoulders and high neck lines! The black tee is a perfect basic, I have it already in white and burgundy, which I wear all the time, they are long enough to wear with jeans or legging but don't bunch out if you tuck them into a skirt or shorts! The leopard print skirt was only £9.50 and I can already tell i'm going to be wearing it all the time! It's quite short but to be honest I find most things quite short on me as i'm fairly tall! The crop is really nice but i'm not sure if i'll keep it, I do really like cropped t shirts and if this was an inch or two longer I would love it but I don't feel comfortable in it because of it's length!

Holly and Phil

This weekend was a really good one, had a great Saturday night out for my brothers birthday and generally felt horrible yesterday! I wore the Elsa dress and was surprised by how much I loved it, I don't usually wear body con because i'm really self conscious of being such a pear shape, but I had lots of lovely compliments and in the end didn't think it looked too bad!

This week i'm back to working Wednesday- Saturday so have today and tomorrow to do some outfit posts. This evening i'm going to Milton Keynes to the indoor ski place. I've never been skiing before and I am a little bit scared, but after booking a skiing holiday in March I need to learn!

This outfit was from yesterday and makes me look about 12 years old, clearly my bra is not fitting well in the picture either haha embarrassing! I love this jumper from Topshop and have just worn it over my vintage denim shirt and teamed with some tights and the standard H&M body con skirt - lifesaver!

Hope everyone is having a nice day, i'm just sat in my pj's watching 'This Morning' and drinking a lot of orange juice!!

Roller Coaster

I have been a rubbish blogger this week and not posted since Tuesday have just been so busy with my new job! After working my internship at head office on Wednesday I then worked Thursday- Saturday in the shop and went out for one of my best friends birthdays on Friday (where I wore the Laynie AGAIN just love it so much!) The weather has completely turned, I quite like the cold weather and much prefer winter style clothes to summer, but one thing I can't handle is the rain. It actually makes me a little bit angry and always ruins my hair, such a pathetic thing to moan about!

Today is a fairly lazy day as it's Sunday, last night I stayed in, ordered a curry and watched Spice World with my friend which was lovely and very much needed! As for today i'm just sat in the pub my friends work at with some mulled cider waiting to do the quiz later.

I haven't been able to do any outfit of the day photos this week as I have been so busy but I do have one from a few weeks back when I went on a night out with some friends. To be honest I look a bit weird in the photo, I have a weird shape, and it's not the most exciting of outfits, but I absolutely love the black and gold sequin cape i'm wearing. I bought it around 5 years ago from a vintage shop in Bristol after i'd seen a photograph of Kate Moss wearing a sequin cape at Glastonbury and have loved it ever since. Will promise to do a few outfit posts this week to make up for the lack of them!
